About Us
YouGetWellSoon
is the brainchild of Dione. And you guessed it, she has spent time in
a hospital bed. Dione has had both happy and difficult times there. Both her
children were born by Caesarean section – the first being quite a surprise after
so many hours of labour at home with her midwife team. The second C-section, 3
years later, was more expected. The happy end result was 2 daughters.
But
before the kids came, there was her appendix problem. Problem was that her
appendix wanted to relocate to other areas of her body and that was a generally
unacceptable situation – medically speaking. The ambulance ride at 3 in the
morning was an adventure. The fact that her body was unwilling to accept the
appendix removal process with speed and grace was a big problem. What should have
been a 3 to 4 day emergency hospital stay turned into a 17-day ordeal. And in all that time, no one gave me a hospital gift basket or get well soon gift that contained those small but useful items you would love to have when you're all alone in a strange place.
As you
may imagine or already know, after 2 or 3 days you get a little tired of
hospital life. (Even if you're lucky enough to get a great view like I did - downtown Calgary, Canada.) You can’t move a lot, you are on someone else’s food schedule and
you just feel out-of-sorts because you are in a foreign environment. So, your
family and friends stop by after work and on weekends to see you and they bring
you some things to make you feel more comfortable. You don’t want to be a
burden but you want some things now, not whenever someone else has the time. In
the same light, your visitor wants to be helpful but often cannot go to the
home where all the personal items are kept.
Dione had
quite a bit of time to think about these things and how to find a way to make
everyone’s life a bit easier and more comfortable. She created YouGetWellSoon
and now you can get a pack so that you will:
- be outfitted for whenever Baby shows their brand new face
- be
ready for an upcoming operation
- have
a useful hospital gift to give or send to someone - our version of the get well soon gift basket
- be
prepared for any emergency that lands you or someone you love in hospital –
before it happens
- have
most of what you need so your family or friends need only bring you a few
special items – like your favourite shampoo and music
